Family Mediation
Mediation Information and Assessment Meetings, or MIAMs, are conducted individually and cost £125 per person when conducted online, or £160 if conducted in person. They usually last around an hour.
Joint family mediation meetings are £140 per person per hour online, or £170 if conducted face-to-face. The meetings generally last an hour.
We’ll assess your eligibility for legal aid before we begin, and for those eligible, there is no charge.
We can also use the Mediation Voucher scheme to fund mediation when the arrangements for children are being discussed. We will be happy to make an application on your behalf, and if successful, each party’s participation in the mediation will be used to fund joint mediation sessions.
Family Dispute Resolution
Initial individual meetings with the Mediator are £125 per party and may involve more than one participant if there are more than two people involved in the dispute.
Joint meetings are £250 per hour, and this is divided equally between the participants. The minimum period of engagement is three hours.
Civil and Commercial Mediation
The majority of civil and commercial disputes can be resolved in a single session, generally lasting up to half a day, but this depends on the complexity of the issue, and no two mediations are the same. The anticipated duration of the mediation will be agreed with all parties before the mediation session.
Our fee for civil and commercial mediation conducted by Caroline or Alan is £480 per half day, per participant. Robert’s rates are different, and please contact us if you would like to discuss working with him.
Special rates may be available for healthcare and educational institutions, registered charities and similar organisations. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.
The fee includes an allowance for reading the parties’ written submissions in advance of the mediation session. This allows the mediator to gain an understanding of the nature of the dispute, thus saving time during the meeting itself.
Civil Mediation Council Fixed Fee Mediation
To give parties to a dispute of a value under £50,000 the option to employ a mediator at a reasonable rate, Hampshire Mediation is registered with the Civil Mediation Council to provide a Fixed Fee Mediation Scheme. The fees for this service depend on the value of the claim and the length of the session.
Value of claim Fee per participant
£5,000 or less – 1 hour £75 for 1 hour of video mediation
£5,000 or less – 2 hours £125 for 2 hours of video mediation
£5,000 to £15,000 £320 for 3 hours of video or in-person mediation

Each additional hour is charged at £100 per party. In-person mediation also attracts a charge for facilities hire.
Workplace Mediation
Our fee for workplace mediation is £180 per hour. The fees are paid by the employer, who also usually provides a suitable venue in which the mediation can take place.
Special rates may be available for registered charities and similar organisations. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.
Our terms and conditions for workplace mediation can be found here.
Community and Neighbour Mediation
Community and neighbour mediation is charged at £140 for initial individual sessions, and £240 per hour for joint sessions, and the fees are split equally among the participants. The minimum period of engagement is three hours.
Venue
Mediation can take place in any suitable location, provided that it is appropriately equipped, quiet and neutral. If there is no suitable space or if the space suggested is unacceptable to one party for any reason, we can make arrangements to use conference facilities across the country. The use of these facilities is generally charged at between £15 and £40 per hour, and the cost is divided equally between the parties.
Mediation can also be held online.
